Collins & Co Wealth Management Newsletter – April 2025

As we settle into the rhythm of April, recent movements in the share market have served as a reminder that volatility is never far away. While not always comfortable, it’s something long-term investors have seen before — and history shows the value of staying the course through uncertain times.

While headlines have been dominated by global trade tensions, including newly announced Trump-era tariffs, and the upcoming Australian federal election, markets have responded with heightened volatility. Temporary pullbacks in markets — even in the range of 10% — are not uncommon and can be triggered by uncertainty around how businesses, consumers, and policymakers will react. Our focus remains on maintaining well-diversified portfolios, trimming exposure to overheated sectors, and leaning into long-term fundamentals that have guided us through similar periods in the past.

In this month’s newsletter, we take a closer look at major aged care reforms coming into effect from 1 July, including new government support initiatives and changes that could impact families planning ahead. We touch on the 4 pillars to your wellbeing – mindset, healthset, heartset, and soulset. Finally, we revisit the Federal Budget announcements, which introduced updates to personal tax thresholds, support for small businesses, and further funding across aged care and essential services.

As always, if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to get in touch.
